We have gone just over the quarter poll and are 1 day from finishing the first section of the season, divisional play.
As of right now(Saturday night Dec 6th) the matchups for this week are pretty much determined as Andrew, Ben, Erik, and Joel are leading and are going to take the wins. So, the standings will look like this barring a ridiculous Sunday:
TITLETOWN
Inoculators 6-0
Kobe How My Ass Taste 4-2
Bevo's MVPs 2-4
Knicks 0-6
COLUMBIA
Zou 6-0
Gassman 2-4
Boston Three Party 2-4
von Schilbstein 2-4
After divisional play its clear the teams to beat are Ben, Andrew, and Erik. Lock it up...those three are in the playoffs. No need to even play the rest of the season (even though we will). On the other hand Tony is winless...and he's done for...count him out.
So, that leaves a 4 way tie for the last playoff spot that could get interesting. Ill put my money on Chris only because hes done with one round of divisional play and wont play Ben or Andrew again until week 18. In the next 11 weeks Chris plays Erik twice but plays Joel, Luke, Adam, and Tony in the other 9 weeks. Look for Chris to take a firm hold on the final playoff spot. The only team I see challenging him is Joel...maybe.
FREE ADVICE FOR DEET-DEE-DEEs: This next section is directed towards mostly the bottom feeders but to everyone as well....
I suggest you go back and read the league settings and study the game limits section...its killing some of you. The top 4 teams (Erik, Ben, Andrew, and Chris) are the top 4 in total games played. The bottom 4 teams (Luke, Adam, Joel, and Tony) are the bottom 4 teams in total games played. Do the math...you have to play players in order to score. They wont score points for your team on the bench! Thats all Im saying about that.
POWER RANKINGS
1. Blue Springs Inoculators
Why hes ranked here: undefeated and has beaten the highest scoring team in the league twice (Kobe How My Ass Taste).
MVP: Dwayne Wade,We knew Lebron would be good, but DWade has been on fire and is the second highest scoring player in fantasy as I type this. Looks like DWade is over the injury bug...his belief is stronger than your doubt.
Biggest weakness: Injuries. Gilbert Arenas, Vince Carter, Yao Ming, Greg Oden, and Josh Smith are ky cogs on this team. All either have a history of injuries or are coming off inuries.
2. The Zou
Why hes ranked here: undefeated and destroying everyone in his division (by about 300 per week)
MVP: ???????? no idea...he has no superstars, and noone who is tearing it up. It literally is a team effort. Hes just solid across the board.
Biggest weakness: Lack of flexibility. Erik has 8 PGs on his roster. Granted, they are all really good. However, if he ever gets in a close matchup he wont have the flexibility to maximize his games played to earn max points.
3. Kobe How My Ass Taste
Why hes ranked here: Leading the league in scoring but has run into the Inoculators buzzsaw twice for two big losses.
MVP: Chris Paul. Averaging 49 fantasy points per game............nuff said.
Biggest Weakness: Honestly...I dont see one other than having to play Ben, but Im open to any suggestions as to why my team sucks when I play Ben.
4. Bevos MVPs
Why hes ranked here: Very tough schedule so far and the future looks bright in that area.
MVP: Anyone with a "C" next to their name. Chris has 6 centers (Sheed, Brad Miller, Duncan, Shaq, Troy Murphy, and Marcus Camby) averaging AT LEAST 23 fantasy points per game, and all but two of them can play other positions as well.
Biggest Weakness: Caron Butler might be his best player...not good. Theres no superstar there that can go off for 40 or 50. Hes going to have to rely on the consistency of his team.
5. von Schilbstein
Why hes ranked here: Somebody has to be 5th out of Joel,Luke, and Adam...and Joel has scored more than either of them.
MVP: Dirk Nowitzki. Hes big, hes German, and hes good. Al Jefferson is a close 2nd
Biggest Weakness: Hs trading abilities. This has been discussed ad nauseum in other leagues so I will not elaborate. (really Joel? Rajon Rondo for Vincanity and Paul Pierce? really? and no Roger Mason does not count in that trade)
6. Team Gassman
Why hes ranked here: See above. 6th place in total points
MVP: Kobe I guess...just cause hes Kobe
Biggest weakness: His apathy. Go look at his starting lineup...then look at his division opponents. Then go look at his games played. He has a good team...a playoff capable team...but he doesnt play players! Hes next to last in games played. If he ever gets off his butt and decides to try in this league he could easily make the playoffs.
7. Boston Three Party
Why hes ranked here: By now you know.
MVP: Sadly...Andris Biedrins. Biedrins has been his most consistent and solid performer all season. Hes been better than KG....go figure.
Biggest Weakness: Andris Biedrins is his best player. Seriously....he has a hockey name. Why is he your best player?
8. Springfield Knicks
Why hes ranked here: Has not won a matchup. He's last in the league in points scored and games played. Do I need to go on?
MVP: Danny Granger. Solid player, but if he's your BEST player....youre not going to win.
Weakness: He knows nothing about the NBA and is not trying...poor show, poor show.
Well, thats it for now...Ill try and have another blog up at the end of interdivisional play. Good luck to all...and hopefully the league will get a little more competitive when people start undersanding the rules and the fact that you HAVE TO PLAY PEOPLE TO SCORE POINTS!!!!
